Marty Rathbun and his Non-group

Marty Rathbun has once again shown how much of an SP and squirrel he is – this time by making it abundantly clear that he is in direct disagreement with LRH’s intention that OTs work together to create an irresistible force to handle the problems besetting society.

Marty wants people to be “independent” of the Church, and to “practice Scientology as they see fit.”   In other words, he wants squirrels to be squirrels. He has also made it abundantly clear that he does not want to lead these individuated squirrels and does not want them to be a group in their own right.

The simple fact is that these so-called independent thinkers (which is Marty code for Marty-cult members)  are not capable of being a group, because they are a collection of squirrels and SPs who are incapable of being true group members – which is why they are outside of the Church.  They could not form into a group even if they wanted to.  That much is obvious.

Marty of course touts being “independent” as some kind of a positive.  To him it means freedom from control, freedom to do whatever one wants, freedom to squirrel as much as one likes.  To equate being an SP and a squirrel with having an independent spirit is typical of Marty’s A=A=A. In Marty-propaganda terms, it’s actually a euphemism for “alter tech and policy as much as you want.”

As usual, while claiming out of one side of his mouth to be pro-LRH, he is advocating things that are diametrically opposed to what LRH says.

Organizations and groups are an important part of life.  The Third Dynamic is also known as the Group Dynamic.  LRH spent a huge amount of time developing the technology of handling groups, and that tech is covered in the Green Volumes as well as in thousands of issues specifically written for specialized activities, organizations and units.  All Scientologists know about this tech – it includes Ethics Tech, PR Tech, Organizational Tech, and so on.

No one can survive without organizations.  They are necessary if one is to travel, make a phone call, buy groceries, wear clothes – anything.   Even hermits rely on some kind of organization to bring them food while they meditate.

In regards to Scientology, LRH was adamant about the need for it to be strongly formed up and organized.

In Keeping Scientology Working he points out that, “The finest organizations in history have been tough, dedicated organizations.  Not one namby-pamby bunch of pantywaist dilettantes have ever made anything.”

In RJ 67 he described why it is necessary that we all work together.

I went off by myself into southern Africa to see whether or not an OT would make good, singly and all alone, without any assistance, against the environment around him. And I found out that he would not do too much good. But a group of OTs would be entirely irresistible, and are necessary to carry off this type of operation. So OTs do best with OTs.

. . .

In the lower grades one is mainly concerned with himself and his own case or his immediate family, but as one moves up the line, one becomes more concerned with the environment and the world in which he lives; and with this concern comes the realization that all has not been well.

But again, when push comes to shove, Rathbun is only concerned with himself. He actively pushes the image of himself as a leader of the scattered rabble, but when squirrels come to him complaining about the grotesque “service” and other treatments and shady dealings  they’ve received at the hands of other “independent thinkers” in Rathbun’s fold, Rathbun tells these people they are on their own, leave him alone. Not his responsibility.  Use the tech “as you see fit” to choose your people.

In other words, there’s no real group there. A leader by any measure would try to put a group safeguard in place, at the very least. But Rathbun wants a scattered, undirected group of mal-practitioners who are a group in name only, who each go their own way, and remain individuated, and thus go nowhere on a group dynamic. He only wants a label he can use to promote himself and make a few bucks. Meanwhile he remains a mere PR front who blathers on and on and tries to make himself look good.

Leave it to the squirrel Marty Rathbun to advocate a solution that would undo everything LRH achieved.   What else would one expect of an SP? By his very nature, he will destroy any group around him, particularly one that shows any hint of cohesiveness or ability, as that would become even more of a threat to him personally.

It looks like some of these followers are already looking around and realizing they’ve been had by the scam artist Rathbun.

And for the record, I’m sick of referring to these disparate, nattering, individuated losers with the inappropriate label that Rathbun and a few other smarmy propagandists use. There are a lot of other, better descriptions of them, but to imply they are a “group,” is false, which is what this article is all about.
